Board-certified Pet Nutritionist are hired for big brands of dog food. Which makes our lives a little easier knowing the typical dry food (kibble) has been packed with proper foods.

Today's Overview:

  • Holistic Modifications

1. Types of Food include:

It might be the food.

3. Holistic Modifications

When adjusting your pup's diet, conservative transition periods will more likely be successful than cold turkey switching. This looks like 75% old food with 25% new, then 50/50 old new food, etc. If you're transitioning to fresh food like Farmer's Dog, they provide guides on how to adjust from kibble. Using my link, you'll get 80% off your trial box of 2-weeks of food.

Pick one option from below to modify and observe your pup's energy level, poop consistency and overall agreeableness.

- Change the Protein: chicken is showing more allergies recently. Maybe Pork, Turkey, Salmon, or Beef. All the way up to Kangaroo (the wild game is expensive).

- Elimination Diet of the Proteins before Grain Free.

- Reduce the variety of treats to 2-3 main proteins and a variety of sizes.

- Eliminate Grains (similar to Gluten-free for humans) for clearing up skin.

- Grain-Free means no rice. Switch in sweet potato or potatoes base. Starch is similar. Consult your veterinarian on maintaining a long term grain-free diet or not.

- Test this for 2 weeks per each of these.

- Probiotics or multi-vitamin (fish oil.)

- Oatmeal shampoo for skin

- Deodorant stick for hydrating the paws or noses.

- Enrichment through puzzle toys, lick mats, and scent work.
